Mental Health Awareness Week 2008 – Reading and Wellbeing
Derbyshire County Council Libraries are currently engaged in an innovative project to encourage people with mental health issues to try a reading or writing group or simply reading more for pleasure. Working with local Primary Health Care Trusts (PCTs) and the Adult Social Services Department, we are supporting Wellbeing groups in partnership with health providers and occupational health workers - one in Matlock started earlier this year, and there are others planned for Clay Cross, Bolsover, Chesterfield and the Dales area.
As part of this project, there will be an all day open event at Chesterfield Library on Mental Health Awareness Day, Friday October 10th, organised in partnership with North East Derbyshire and Chesterfield PCT. This will include stalls, information and a programme of activities run by a range of partner organisations, self help and support groups, and a couple of author events hosted by the library:
