Annesley Primary and Nursery School seeks artist/wordsmith

Wanted! Practitioners with a passion for words and/or visual arts to work with Annesley Primary and Nursery School and Creative Partnerships Bolsover, Ashfield & Mansfield

Context:
Annesley Primary and Nursery School are working with Creative Partnerships, BAM to immerse the school community in creativity, to generate a vibrant environment leading to improving standards and raised aspirations for life. Our Creative Forum, involving the whole school community, is helping to develop our creative curriculum.

Staff and pupils at Annesley Primary School have identified a desire to work with inspirational practitioners, to contribute to their development of cross-curricular approaches to literacy.
Currently girls are more successful and enthusiastic writers than boys and we want the boys to enjoy and succeed in their writing.
 
Brief
Our enquiry for this year will focus on exploring creative thinking skills to enable our children to engage more and raise standards in literacy.

We are committed to children being at the heart of all work in school and are developing structures and roles to develop them as active learners. Based on the ideas, needs and comments from the children we are looking for enthusiastic practitioners to work in a team to develop literacy through exploring visual and written experiences. Illustration has been identified by staff and children as a skill that would enable them to creatively imagine, visualise and record ideas.

The team will comprise of practitioners working in visual arts and writing.

Person Specification-essential requirements:
• The ability to engage and motivate staff and children and to develop their skills and confidence.
• The ability to plan and work in a team
• An innovative approach
• Ability to inspire and motivate children to write.
• Public liability insurance.
• Enhanced CRB check within the last 2 years

Desirable
• Experience of working in primary schools with teachers and children (3-11 years)
• To demonstrate a passion for words.
• To demonstrate a passion for visual expression.

Timetable:
Project to run November 2008 to June 2009.

Fee:
A fee of £4,000 is offered to each practitioner to include planning, delivery and evaluation of the project.
